Uhm, whoops.

Earlier today, I noticed that my mouse was refusing to scroll. In fact, the mouse ball seemed to have developed a vertical crippling. This wasn't particularly troublesome, just a minor inconvenience.

Now, after half an hour with an old utility knife, a pair of tweezers, a makeshift anti-static glove, a couple of very small screwdrivers and a token amount of silent cursing, it's entirely useless. In fact, it's currently sitting in *counts* five pieces (and three teensy screws). I think I've fixed it, but odds are highly in favor of it working even less now. Mighty Mouse has run of of mightiness.

Update: The bodycount has risen to eleven. I think there may be some widowed and orphaned mouse bits somewhere - I shall construct a memorial later. On the plus side, I've found the problem. The magnetic roller-sensor thingies were gunked up with truly massive amounts of dead skin cells and miscellaneous dirt. But mostly skin. Ew.

I actually wish I had a jeweler's eyepiece now. Not because I need to see detail on the parts - just to complete the tinkerer image.
