Deming's Paintbrush

In quality control, there's a cycle known as Plan-Do-Check-Act, or PDCA. Wikipedia gives a good example of how it's traditionally used.

But I just realised that this is also easily applied to creative acts such as art. Observe!
PLAN: Visualise the scene; create sketches.
DO: Draw the picture.
CHECK: Examine the picture for unwanted flaws (perspective, anatomy). Ask others to examine it as well.
ACT: Practice those areas that were lacking. Try new ways to improve visualization and drawing, not just specific concepts.

Now that I can think of art as a quality control problem, learning and improving art skills isn't so daunting. It's not just practice, it's quality!

Oh, Deming, is there anything you can't do?
