I never noticed any ad there until I saw this post and checked. Just a placeholder (thanks NoScript).
But yeah, dA seems to have been going downhill for quite a while, what with the moving links around an update to Ooh! Shiny! the interface, and later the extras I don't use because they make it too time consuming (and serve little purpose)...
