I got my first article for the college rag published today. It was for an International Celebration the college puts on every year - this year was the 14th. Probably wasn't a great article, but hey, it got published, and that's all that matters, right?

And, I get paid for this. Yay!

What rate were you paid, if you don't mind me asking, as a amount per word figure.

Just that that determins how it looks on your CV, I think. I believe professional rate is 5 cents a word or higher, but I might be misremembering.

I have no idea. I'll find out in a week or so when I get my check in the mail - it seems there's all sorts of red tape to jump through in order to pay contributors.
