PSA - LJ Datamining
Apparently, LiveJournal is stepping up its data mininig. Data is not (currently) collected on "friends-only or private entries" or "private data such as payment information". Here's how to opt out of this.
Go to the Admin Console (http://www.livejournal.com/admin/console/).
Enter "set opt_exclude_stats 1" (sans quotes) and click "execute".
For communities, use the format "communityname opt_exclude_stats 1".
Maybe I'm just being suspicious and paranoid, but having to opt out of a glorified marketing scheme seems rather sleazy. Even more so when the announcement of it is tucked away in a place not many people would look.
