Early and often.
Nov. 7th, 2006 09:04 pmI went and voted today, without incident. I'm really only mentioning this because this is my first real election at the physical ballots. (2004 was an absentee ballot for me.) We have the standardized test type of voting system here, which at least means there's a paper trail, but even so I gave the big machine marked "Diebold" a bit of a glare.
I didn't vote straight-party Democrat because, well, some of the local Republicans don't seem to have been doing that bad of a job. But it was still mostly Dems. Also voted against Prop 2 (abolishment of affirmative action programs) and some other props that sounded less than brilliant.
There were no exit pollers. That made me feel a bit . . . unimportant.
We'll see how things turn out at the national level. Hopefully the Dems will take back both houses. Hopefully!
(And if Dick DeVos wins for Gov., well, then we can rename Michigan as "Michigamway".)
